WOODLAND is a dance collective that digs deep into our inner wild in order to provoke thoughtful contemplation on the environmental impact our every day actions can have on a personal, interpersonal, and societal level. 

 

We have one earth. And as many of us know, this planet is being exploited for its resources and destroyed by a relentless demand of consumerism at a rate that has become a ticking time bomb for the natural world as we know it. The burden of being responsive to this dire need for climate action, however, falls heavily on the shoulders of those who can only change so much on a personal level, creating a sense of loss and feelings of hopelessness for the masses. My heart often aches for the world around me as I sit wondering how I can make monumental change on my own, and it is in these moments of heartache that I turn to dance.

 

The body is filled with understanding and compassion and can express intimacy, longing, heartbreak, and dreams that words will never capture. Which is why I create the works that I do; to remind us all of the strength, the hope, the wonders, and the beauty that lives within every inch of ourselves, and the natural world around us. The need for change is crucial, but it is within communal action that we see a brighter future on the horizon.
